Mystery Mess

Mystery Mess

Number of Players: 3+

How to:

Players start by gathering as many cardboard boxes (or other large containers that are not see-through) as there are players. Next, the players place the boxes in the middle of the room to be cleaned and choose who will fill the mystery boxes first (click here for way to choose who goes first). This player then rolls two 6-sided die and puts that many items that need to be put away in to the first box. The player then rolls the dice again and puts that many items into the next box and then continues rolling the die and filling the boxes until each box has items in it. When they are finished putting some items in each box, the first player closes the boxes so that the contents are not visible and calls the other players back in to the room. The other players take turns picking a box without touching the boxes or looking inside. When each player has a box, the player that filled the boxes takes the remaining box, counts to 3 and then all players open their boxes and race to put away the items inside. The first player to put away the items in their box, is the next player that gets to fill the boxes. The order that the other players finish putting away their items, is the order in which the players get to choose their next boxes.

Optional: If you have multiple rooms that need to be tidied, the game can be played with less waiting time by each player picking a separate room and filling mystery boxes for their room. Then the players choose their boxes from one room at a time and put the contents away before moving on to the next room.  The next room the players go to is the room of the player that finished putting away their items first.
