Cinderella

Number of Players: 1+

How to:

Players pretend to be Cinderella (or Cinderevan for the boys) trying to finish all of their chores quickly enough that they can make themselves a beautiful gown (or a handsome suit) and be able to attend the ball. The room must be perfectly clean before the players can attend the ball. Unfortunately, the step mother keeps making further demands and Cinderella is unable to make a suitable outfit in time to go to the ball. She is left at the big house alone but her fairy god mother shows up and magically creates a beautiful gown and glass slippers so that Cinderella can attend the ball. When the players have cleaned the room, they can pretend that their fairy godmother has given them a lovely outfit for the ball. They can even dress up and pretend to go to the ball at the palace.

The story:

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young woman who was forced to keep house for her evil stepmother and two evil stepsisters. The young woman’s father had passed away, leaving her stepmother in charge of the estate.

The stepmother was cruel and jealous of Cinderella’s beauty and kind nature so she forced her to wear rags and work as a servant in the house. With no head for finance or business, Cinderella’s stepmother and frivolous step sisters squandered her father’s wealth. As the money disappeared, they were no longer able to afford to pay for the household servants and they were let go one by one until only a few servants, and poor Cinderella, remained to do the work of a much larger staff.

Despite this terrible treatment, Cinderella remained kind and gentle and she worked hard to keep the estate running smoothly. After a hard day’s work of cooking, sweeping, scrubbing, washing, dusting and mending she would often curl up by the light of the fire and read from the little collection of books that her father had given her before he passed away.

One day, an announcement went out through the land that the Prince was looking for a bride and all eligible young ladies in the kingdom were invited to attend a ball held at the palace. Cinderella longed to go to the ball but her evil stepmother knew that if Cinderella went to the ball, her beauty would overshadow the homely looks of her stepsisters so the evil stepmother told Cinderella that she could only go to the ball if all of her chores were finished. Her stepmother proceeded to give Cinderella a list of chores so long that it would be nearly impossible to complete before the ball!

What happens next? Will the players get the room clean in time to attend the ball?
