Picture It Pick Up

Number of players: 3+

Materials needed: blank paper and pens or pencils

How to:

Divide into two teams and pick a room. Take turns having one person on each team draw an item in the room that needs to be put away while both teams try to guess the item being drawn. The team that does not guess the picture correctly first must each put an item away (including that item). When the picture has been guessed correctly, the opportunity to draw passes to the other team.

Tips:

  • The person doing the drawing should try not to glance back at the object after deciding which object to draw or the other players will be able to use the direction of their gaze as a clue.

Variations:

  • This is a great opportunity to use the middle thing pick-up. Before the game begins, players can move everything that needs to be put away to the center of the room. This helps to reduce the risk that players will be able to guess the item from the direction the person doing the drawing is looking. This is also an added level of challenge since only part of an object may be exposed.
  • Variations for smaller groups:
  • If you don’t have enough people to split into teams, play as individuals. When the picture has been guessed correctly, have everyone (other than the person who guessed correctly) put something away. The person who did the drawing gets to put away the item that they drew.
  • If you have only two players, the person that did the drawing puts away that item (after the picture has been guessed correctly) while the other person is deciding which object to draw next.
